The summer comes , I remember Zanzibar. A few years ago, the end of July, the festival in Zanzibar is held everyyear. We visited this famous festival guided by a local doctor. This photo was taken by me. I had never ecited like that and I felt as if i was a kind of documentary film cameraman. The women wore nice various colored kanga that should have been bought by their men and show others. If for that festival day, her loved person did not buy any kanga for her, how disappointed she could be! But many men accompanied with well dressed ladies! This moment was highlight in this festival.

When I travelled to Zanzibar, suddenly this melody was on my head while I was walking in the old town around sunset time. Atmosphere, spices smells, warm exotic air that is different from that in asia.

After sunset, on the narrow street in the old town, three tall masai men passed me with nice smiling and certainly I noticed their half hand holding mobile phone instead of their weapons, they were on the way home after their working as guards at hotels. Men with islam costumes were praying at mosque, just in front of the mosque, a man selling cut fruits like water melon. I have eaten the one of the best zanzibar night food that was so delicious. Street food for locals, but not like zanzibar pizza for italian tourists at night market. Fried octpus, namachoma grilled meat. yUMMY MEMORY THERE.Loved spicy milk tea served full of big teapot.
After seeing beautiful masaii mens jewerry, i was inspired and made one pretty jewerry so called masai.i made many but only this left me with me. blue, red, sky blue, transperants cool white.

Above all, the fruits juice, freshly squeezed was so sweet. I miss this taste forever.

After meiji era, we Japanese abandoned our national costume Kimono and long hair for chonmage style as daily dress code, but Masaii and Butan men are very proud of their own costume. Imagine! If all japanese suddenly start wearing only kimono&kamisimo and start having the same hairstyle as Sumo hair style at office and home. Although in fact I rather respect Masaii men and Buthan men since they have been same as before and they believe their style as best.
